Lorelei Gilmore is My BFF

I receive Mama Kat's Weekly Writing Prompts, well weekly, but I rarely act on them.

However, when I read this week's email, I knew I had to jump in with both feet.

Here's the assignment:
Share 5 Fictional Friends you'd want in real life. (Movie/Book/TV etc.)

Wow, how to narrow it down to just five?

It was tough, but here is my list countdown style:

5.  Penny from the Big, Bang Theory

She drinks a LOT of wine AND has ready access to a rockin' IT department. She is a great foil to the geekiness that is Sheldon, Leonard, Raj and Wolowitz! Girls Night with Penny, Bernadette and Amy would be so much fun.

4.  Rapunzel from Tangled

Not only does she have magic hair, she knows how to use a frying pan. She is probably my favorite Disney character ever! I could hang out in the palace and NEVER worry about security when she's around.

3.  Elnora from A Girl of the Limberlost by Indiana author Gene Stratton-Porter

This is my all-time favorite book ever. Elnora is a strong young woman who overcomes a tough home life. She'd be a steadfast friend who I could count on in almost any situation, especially if I get lost in the woods! Best of all, she's from Indiana so we could get together often.

2.  Maggie from Born in Fire by Nora Roberts

Maggie is one tough Irish woman. She is artistic. She is temperamental. She is loyal. All the makings of a very good, entertaining friend. Also, she could teach me how to make glass paper weights!

And drumroll please...

1. Lorelei from Gilmore Girls

Does this pick really need any reason behind it? She is just the ultimate friend. Witty dialogue, great fashion sense and a lover of junk food and movies!

But, my main reason for choosing Lorelei as my BFF (best fictional friend) is Stars Hollow and the cast of characters that call it home. Who wouldn't want to sit in Luke's and hear the town gossip from Miss Patti and Babettte before heading to the Firefly Inn to annoy Michele and sample Sookie's food, all while waiting for Kirk to do some quirky!

This was such a fun post to ponder. If I had a sixth selection, it would have totally been either Phoebe from Friends for the pure entertainment OR Carrie from SATC for the wardrobe!

Where's the Beef

Once I stopped bowling blogging (was totally watching Big Bang Theory right now and it's the one with Will Wheaton and the bowling alley...oops) earlier this month, I have had a difficult time starting again.

So, I decided to ease into it with a simple post tonight.

Have you seen the Wendy's television ad where the guy puts on the vintage "Where's the Beef?" t-shirt and everyone notices?

A t-shirt like this one...

I love the throwback to the classic "Where's the Beef?" commercials with these ladies...

The ad made me smile...and made me want a Baconator...guess it did it's job, huh?

BTW, my local Wendy's started carrying Coke Zero. Yeah!

Loving on Leontien, Vacation and Fall TV

I'm wrapping up a week of vacation where I did nothing more exciting than sleep in, clean my house, and cook up some butterscotch rolls...and maybe some pinning over on Pinterest!

Here are just a few things I'm "loving on Wednesday."

I'm loving...My wonderful IRL and blogging buddies, Liz and Cris. They organized a wonderful "love bomb" effort for our friend Leontien who just found out that she has cancer for the second time in just a few years.

In just one day, the Love for Leontien Facebook page had more than 100 likes. Head over and give her some encouragement and love!

Don't know the connection between skull underwear and cancer? Check out Leontien's blog post.

When you are saying a little prayer for Leontien, please say an extra one for my granny. She's in a lot of pain and my family is bracing ourselves for the worst. I just want her to be at peace and not hurt anymore, whatever path that leads her down.

On a lighter note...I'm loving that the new television season kicked off this week. I didn't PLAN my vacation around it but it was a great coincidence.

I'm loving and looking forward to...

and...

I'm loving...that I've probably spent too much time on Pinterest this week and not enough time cleaning my house. Oh well...look what I found!

For my NYC trip at the end of October...

For my wall...I really did buy this!

For my listening pleasure, I've been obsessed with these guys...

I'm in love with Mumford and Sons. If you don't have their CD...go get it now! Or plug them into Pandora and enjoy the mix!

What are YOU loving this Wednesday?

I'm not Crazy...How I Met Your Mother is New

I've been looking forward to this Monday night for a while. It's the start of the fall TV season - at least on network television. Now, I'd be more excited if a) I didn't have DVR (I heart DVR) and b) Big Bang Theory was still on Monday nights.

I really liked starting my Monday night with How I Met Your Mother and ending it with Sheldon and the gang. One of my all-time favorite lines came from Sheldon last season: "I'm not crazy. My mother had me tested."

Bummer...we still didn't meet the mother...sorry I'm watching TV as I type!

Back to the regularly scheduled post...

In my younger years (and possibly still) I was known in my family for knowing what TV show was on when. I may have even once told a friend that it was time to quit dating a guy because the new TV season was set to start.

Now, the real reason I wanted to stop dating said guy was that he had - what I would call - an unhealthy love (and too large of a collection) of firearms AND he had the habit of NOT returning DVDs rented in my name on time (I hate late fees). Two very big no-nos in my book.

But what a great excuse to break things off with someone. So much more original than "I have to wash my hair" OR "My dog died."

So if I don't post anything for the next few weeks, you'll know what I'm doing, because you know Cougar Town is new on Wednesday too!

I have to "go wash my hair."
