Are You Going to Watch II

Source: google.com via Megan on Pinterest

I cried the night I watched the Series Finale of Gilmore Girls.

Not just because Rory was heading out into the real world, leaving Stars Hollow behind.

Or because the town came together, made her sash, and wished her a tearful good-bye.

Or even because it ended with the assumption that Luke and Lorelai were finally going to get together.

But because the show that I had invested 7 years on was just going away. Those characters were real to me.

I wanted to jump in my car, drive 17 hours and visit Stars Hollow.

Sit in Luke's Cafe and drink coffee.

Go to Dosey's Market and buy a box of corn starch from Taylor.

Watch one of Miss Patti's dance recitals.

Stay at the Dragonfly Inn and taste some of Sookie's Zucchini Soup.

And have Michelle be rude to me.

Yes, I am a Gilmore Girls fan.

Want me to prove it...go ahead, I dare you. OK, I will.

Did you know that the actor who played Kirk- the quirky guy about town - was in two episodes in the first season but not as Kirk?

He play Mick in the episode featuring Rory's first day at Chilton and he played a guy delivering swans to the Independence Inn for a wedding in the next episode.

Told you I was a fan.

So, why am I waxing poetically about a show that went off the air five years ago?

Because tonight, I'm hoping that this show may be my new Gilmore Girls...

It's from the creator of Gilmore Girls - Amy Sherman-Palladino - so it should be good, right?

It has a woman lead character.

It has a small East Coast town.

It has Emily Gilmore (or at least the actress who played her).

So, I'm willing to give it a shot.

It also has ballerinas. I'm not so sure about that.

But I'm going to give it a try.

I'm really hoping Bunheads has a strong cast of supporting characters. I think that was what made Gilmore Girls special. That and the fast-paced, witty dialogue between mother and daughter.

Man, I love that show. I may have watched the pilot of GG while writing this post. Actually, I may keep the pilot and the series finale on my DVR just because.

Now, that I have outed myself as a GG fanatic, are you planning to watch Bunheads?

If so, don't tell me about it on Tuesday. I'm traveling this week so I have to DVR it and plan to catch up on Wednesday night.

Are You Going to Watch

I have to admit that I am intrigued.

Kevin Costner vs. Bill Paxton

Dances with Wolves, Bull Durham and The Bodyguard vs. Twister, Apollo 13 and Big Love

The History Channel's new TV series, Hatfields and McCoys, has caught my attention. So much so that it's going to get some precious space on my DVR.

But my fascination with the show is not necessarily because of the actors or storyline, but mainly because of the song in the commercial.

Have you heard it?

It captures my attention every time it comes on. So much so that I looked it up and bought the album this week! The song is Bartholomew and it's by the Common Faults.

It's actually playing as I am writing this post.

A funny thing happened while I was searching for the song. I found another album that I fell in love with simply because the name of the songs were similar and the beginning of the songs are similar (probably not to real music fans) so I got a bit confused!

If you have not heard of The Civil Wars, I suggest you check out their album Barton Hollow. It's in my playlist rotation.

What's new on your playlist?

I'm about ready to hit "buy" on Jack White's new album, Blunderbuss, and I recently bought Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party because I am a sucker for songs that give shout outs to my state (Fly Over States).

If you tune into the History Channel tonight on Monday (thanks Rajean for pointing that out) for the Hatfields and McCoys, let me know if it's worth hitting play on my DVR this weekend. It's going to be 90 degrees outside so I may need some indoors entertainment options!

Note: The links in this post are affiliate links but the opinions are completely my own. The History Channel and the mentioned artists (including Kevin Costner) have absolutely no idea who I am or that I am writing this post.

Where's the Beef

Once I stopped bowling blogging (was totally watching Big Bang Theory right now and it's the one with Will Wheaton and the bowling alley...oops) earlier this month, I have had a difficult time starting again.

So, I decided to ease into it with a simple post tonight.

Have you seen the Wendy's television ad where the guy puts on the vintage "Where's the Beef?" t-shirt and everyone notices?

A t-shirt like this one...

I love the throwback to the classic "Where's the Beef?" commercials with these ladies...

The ad made me smile...and made me want a Baconator...guess it did it's job, huh?

BTW, my local Wendy's started carrying Coke Zero. Yeah!

I'm not Crazy...How I Met Your Mother is New

I've been looking forward to this Monday night for a while. It's the start of the fall TV season - at least on network television. Now, I'd be more excited if a) I didn't have DVR (I heart DVR) and b) Big Bang Theory was still on Monday nights.

I really liked starting my Monday night with How I Met Your Mother and ending it with Sheldon and the gang. One of my all-time favorite lines came from Sheldon last season: "I'm not crazy. My mother had me tested."

Bummer...we still didn't meet the mother...sorry I'm watching TV as I type!

Back to the regularly scheduled post...

In my younger years (and possibly still) I was known in my family for knowing what TV show was on when. I may have even once told a friend that it was time to quit dating a guy because the new TV season was set to start.

Now, the real reason I wanted to stop dating said guy was that he had - what I would call - an unhealthy love (and too large of a collection) of firearms AND he had the habit of NOT returning DVDs rented in my name on time (I hate late fees). Two very big no-nos in my book.

But what a great excuse to break things off with someone. So much more original than "I have to wash my hair" OR "My dog died."

So if I don't post anything for the next few weeks, you'll know what I'm doing, because you know Cougar Town is new on Wednesday too!

I have to "go wash my hair."
