et tu Brute: Ides of March

In honor of the ides of March (March 15th):

Caesar:
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry "Caesar!" Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear.

Soothsayer:
Beware the ides of March.

Caesar:
What man is that?

Brutus:
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
Julius Caesar Act 1, scene 2, 15-19

I found this too and it made me laugh...If Historical Events had Facebook Statuses:

However, thanks to my Latin/English teaching mama, I know that it should be "at the domus tonight" NOT "at the casa tonight." Julius Caesar (not Ceasar) was a Roman NOT a Spaniard!

Also, did you know that we celebrated National Pi Day yesterday?

I know what Pi is but totally missed the significance of celebrating it on March 14... 3/14...3.14...

A co-worker had to spell it out on my white board for me...D-oh!

  1. D-oh is right! I just got it too! Thanks for the reminder of JC's demise. I used to teach that every year about this time! How quickly we forget! May the sun shine upon you today. Trying to get my Irish on for tomorrow! (Not really Irish though, that we have found yet!)

    Have a good one~
