What I'm Loving Wednesday Harvest Style

I'm loving that I got home in time to capture some shots of corn harvest at my parents' house tonight.

I'm loving that my nephew G was in the jump seat of the combine and when he saw me coming across the field, he struck a silly pose.

I'm loving that G invited me into the cab to ride with them!

I'm loving that my dad let G "drive" the combine and that the responsibility made his "gut hurt" as G put it. It's a big deal to steer the big green machine through the field!

"Papaw said there's no driving age for the combine."

"Keep it between the rows."

The same field, just headed away from the sun!

I'm loving this shot. Not sure why, but I do.

I'm loving this shot of all the green machines in a row!

I'm not loving that the hot, dry summer took its toll on our fields. Someone asked my how were we affected and I think my dad explained it best tonight.

He said that he normally had to unload the corn from the combine after one round through the field (up and back once) - in one really good year, he couldn't even go that long. This year he was easily making two rounds before unloading.

Disappointing, yes.  Disheartening, yes.  The end of the world, no.

The beautiful part of farming is that every year we have a chance to raise a crop again. The ultimate do-over.

Wednesday Loves September Style

I'm loving that my Sweet Autumn Clematis is blooming like CRAZY this week. So pretty.

I'm loving that it is already Wednesday and the weekend is just around the corner. Oh the possibilities.

I'm loving that I got a $10 Starbucks card for $5 with this Living Social deal. It's like getting a free drink! And yes, I spend $5 on a drink and I'm OK with that. (I think it's good until midnight tonight!)

I'm loving the Purdue has its own Pinterest account and that I found this on it.

I'm loving this title - Because writing is easier than quitting - from DesignHER Momma. I read it. I nodded my head at some of her words. I blinked back tears at others. I understood where she was coming from. This post is why I love being part of this online community.

I'm loving that I had some time to spend with my nieces at my parents' farm. We actually stopped and smelled the flowers.

Loving on Leontien, Vacation and Fall TV

I'm wrapping up a week of vacation where I did nothing more exciting than sleep in, clean my house, and cook up some butterscotch rolls...and maybe some pinning over on Pinterest!

Here are just a few things I'm "loving on Wednesday."

I'm loving...My wonderful IRL and blogging buddies, Liz and Cris. They organized a wonderful "love bomb" effort for our friend Leontien who just found out that she has cancer for the second time in just a few years.

In just one day, the Love for Leontien Facebook page had more than 100 likes. Head over and give her some encouragement and love!

Don't know the connection between skull underwear and cancer? Check out Leontien's blog post.

When you are saying a little prayer for Leontien, please say an extra one for my granny. She's in a lot of pain and my family is bracing ourselves for the worst. I just want her to be at peace and not hurt anymore, whatever path that leads her down.

On a lighter note...I'm loving that the new television season kicked off this week. I didn't PLAN my vacation around it but it was a great coincidence.

I'm loving and looking forward to...

and...

I'm loving...that I've probably spent too much time on Pinterest this week and not enough time cleaning my house. Oh well...look what I found!

For my listening pleasure, I've been obsessed with these guys...

I'm in love with Mumford and Sons. If you don't have their CD...go get it now! Or plug them into Pandora and enjoy the mix!

Loving This Wednesday

I haven't done a What I'm Loving Wednesday in a while so I thought "why not?"

I'm loving these chips. They've changed my life. It sounds dramatic, but it's true.

I was never a big fan of the kettle cooked potato chips but these changed my mind. I may or may not have eaten these at 7 a.m. on a Saturday morning.

I'm loving that my baby sister hosted a Houseparty last weekend featuring Breakstone's Zesty Blends sour cream and sour cream dips. She had some yummy appetizers featuring the Zesty Blends Chipotle and Garlic and Herb sour creams.

Baby Sister made our Aunt Peggy's famous taco dip with the Chipotle Sour Cream and it gave the dip a nice kick.

Even more than the food, I enjoyed an evening with my family in the home that I used to visit my grandparents in...now home to my baby sister and her family.

I'm loving a conversation I had with some friends the other night. One of them recently lost her brother to a long battle with cancer. For his obituary and memorial photo, they used one of him in his mid-twenties because that is what he'll look like in heaven (when you get to heaven you revert to the age/look of your best self). I guess this thought is from a book that I must find and read soon. I LOVE the idea, just absolutely love it.

I'm loving all the great things on Pinterest...especially my board dedicated to Butterflies!

I'm loving that I'm getting to walk more often these days. I don't think my pace would be considered "exercise" by most, but I sweat while I walk so it's exercise to me!

Why I Love My Life

There is something about a fence and cattle on the other side.

The sight draws you.

It makes you stop and just take it all in.

It attracts others.

I'm loving that as a child I stood at and climbed over this same fence to get closer to the cattle in the summer (my dad's a farmer, not a rancher so when I say "cattle" I mean four or five at a time) or to go sledding in the winter.

I'm loving that my nephews (and soon my nieces) get to experience the same kind of childhood as my sisters and I had on (or near) the farm.

I'm loving that my dad is the kind of grandpa (or Papaw) that his dad (my Grandpa) was...patient, kind, loving, silly, fun and wise.

I'm loving my simple country life (that is still just 30 minutes away from the closest mall) and that I share it with my family.

A Pick Me Up Wednesday

After endless days of this...

...I'm talking about the rain and the road, I've been feeling a bit down. Kind of cranky, kind of on edge, kind of blah. So when I started thinking about my What I'm Lovin' Wednesday post earlier in the week, I was worried about what it would include.

Then this happened...

I'm loving a Bloggy Birthday Party! And I'm loving the pretty butterfly on my bloggy birthday gift.

A group of bloggy and IRL gal pals gathered this week to celebrate our Bloggy Birthdays. Most of the group started blogging about this time a year ago. So we decided to have a Bloggy Birthday Brunch (say that 3 times fast) and celebrate.

It also gave us an opportunity to do several things that we love to do:
  • Some baking
  • Some blogging
  • Some talking
  • Some games
Wait a minute, did I say games? I'm one of those people who really don't like party games - at baby showers, at bridal showers, at anything.

But I have to admit something (just sayin' Cris)...

I'm loving the "one thing" game. I don't think that is its real name, but I can't remember the name so that's what I'm calling it!

Each of the gals wrote our name on a blank sheet of paper and taped it to our backs...yes our backs. Then we moved around the room writing one nice thing about each other (personal comment, comment on their blog, etc). Let me tell you, it was a sight to see...at one time we had a real "commenting train" going on.

After we finished our comments, we went around the room and read our sheets out loud.

I'm loving all the nice things on my sheet...

I'm loving that others love the randomness of this blog.

I'm loving that I make someone smile.

I'm lovingthat my pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are...wait for it...LEGENDARY. At least they are among a select group of 5-8 year olds in Indiana!

These gals don't know how much I needed their kind words this week. I have the best bloggy and IRL gal pals EVER!

What are you loving today? Head over to this kind of love and share.

Yoga Pants, Candy Coated Eggs and a Winner

I think Wednesday is my favorite day to post.

It's a day that I usually post my random, rambling thoughts (as if I have any other kind).

It's a day to share what I'm lovin' thanks to this kind of love...check it out!

I'm loving that I get to announce the winner (a day late) of the Pillsbury Bake-off prize pack provided by Pillsbury through MyBlogSpark. And the winner is...

jrutherford251...who is lovin' some monkey bread! Congrats!

I'm loving these yoga pants (at least I call them yoga pants even when I'll never do yoga in them) from Gap Body. They are super comfortable AND they come in TALL which is AWESOME.

I'm loving light weight knit cardigans...I've bought three in the last two weeks. I even got one in blue...so unlike my usual - black or gray or black.

I'm loving these...though I still want to snag a bag of the Dove dark chocolate marshmallow eggs that I saw on Beyer Beware last week. Sorry for the awful photo (Blackberry camera plus hotel room lighting equals this).

I'm loving these albums...I added both 21 and Sigh No More to my iTunes playlist recently and can't get enough of either.
